Ruth Fitton b.1992
Ruth began her career painting volunteers from live
audiences at art exhibitions around Yorkshire. This prac -
tice has made her fast, flexible and intuitive. She is now
a highly regarded figurative artist and recent com mis -
sions include a full-length portrait of the first lady
Master of The Merchant Taylors’ Company. In May
2023, her painting, The Abduc tion of Time, was awarded
the People’s Choice Award at the 25th Annual Interna -
tional Portrait Competition, Portrait Society of America.
‘ From time to time I escape the studio for travel and
exploration. And when I travel, I paint. I find that paint -
ing lets me absorb and appreciate the beauty of my
surroundings in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
