Lulu Coldrey b.1981

Lulu was classically trained for three years at Charles
H Cecil. After leaving Florence in 2006 she forged
a career as an extremely successful wildlife and land scape
artist. Lulu’s ability to capture the complex mixture
of character, emotion, form, and textures, whilst connec -
ting with the personal nature of her subject, gives her
work a unique and special quality.

‘ I have always been fascinated by the grace and power
of wildlife. Having spent some time in Africa, where
my father was brought up, and many hours along the
river and in the fields and woods around my home.

I try to capture something of the particular animal I am
portraying, whether it be the bright flashes of blue that
so grab one’s attention of the kingfisher, or the quiet
graceful interaction between an African elephant and
the egrets around him. I can imagine their conversation.
