With only a handful of apprentices between 1986–88, the
studio was run along the lines of the French art ateliers of
the 19th century, whereby they worked along side Charles
Cecil and Dan Graves. Since moving to London in 1989,
Nicky has built an enviable reputa tion as a leading portrait
painter. Commissions include TRHs Princes William and
Harry for the National Portrait Gallery; Princess Anne for
The Fishmongers’ Company; Falk lands’ veteran, Simon
Weston for the BBC and The National Portrait Gallery;
and HM Queen Elizabeth II for The Royal Bodyguard
of Archers. The celebrated portrait of Queen Elizabeth II
surrounded by her corgis is on permanent display in the
Throne Room, Buckingham Palace.
In between commissions Nicky enjoys creating a body
of landscapes and still life. Many of these paintings are
now in prominent collections worldwide as a result
of her solo exhibitions in London.
